In March of 2021, the Unidata Program Center made the community aware that it no longer had software development resources available to support the continued use and evolution of GEMPAK. Following discussions with community members, Unidata published A Proposal for Community Support of GEMPAK, laying out some history of the package and the support situation, and proposing a way forward. This post describes the current situation and includes information about the most current community supported release.
The Unidata Program Center is pleased to announce the opening of the 2022 Unidata Community Equipment Awards solicitation. Do you use Unidata software packages? Do you love to write code? Just interested in the interplay of science and data? The Unidata Summer Internship program is looking for you!
The Unidata Summer Internship offers undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to work with Unidata Program Center staff on projects drawn from a wide variety of areas in the atmospheric and computational sciences. Unidata's mission is to support the Earth Science research and education community with data and tools for data access, analysis, and visualization. As a Unidata intern, you'll pursue the goal of adding innovative enhancements to data access, analysis, and visualization tools developed within Unidata.
Welcome back to AWIPS Tips! This week's topic is another exploration into one of the many features of CAVE's Volume Browser. In previous Volume Browser tips, we've covered Plan Views, Cross Sections, and Time Series, and this week is all about generating model soundings. CAVE can generate a sounding from any point using output from several different models.
The American Geophysical Union will be conducting a hybrid in-person and virtual conference for its 2021 Fall meeting, December 13-17 2021, with live events taking place in New Orleans, LA.
Neither Unidata nor its parent organization UCAR will have a physical presence in the physical AGU exhibit hall this year. Some of the things we'll miss talking about with you in person are our summer internships and the money we give away to help educational institutions take part in the Unidata community. Check the Unidata web site for information about the 2022 Student Internship program and the 2022 Community Equipment Awards program for details.
