Abstract Deadlines for AMS and AGU Annual Meetings

The 107th American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting in will be held 10-14 January 2027 in Denver, CO. The American Geophysical Union's 2026 Fall Meeting in will be held 7-11 December 2026 in San Francisco, CA. Abstract submission deadlines for both are in early August 2026.

netCDF-Java version 5.10.0 released

The NSF Unidata THREDDS development released version 5.10.0 of the netCDF-Java/Common Data Model (CDM) library.

MetPy Mondays

MetPy Mondays

The popular MetPy Mondays series continues its 15-episode run in 2026, with new episodes released every other week. The series provides short, focused tutorials on using the MetPy Python package for meteorological data analysis and visualization. June episodes covered making Emagram plots, getting GFS case study data from NCEI, and automatically detecting high and low pressure centers.

Advisory Committee News

NSF Unidata's Users Committee and Strategic Advisory Committee met in a series of virtual meetings in March and April 2026. During a joint session, the committees ratified plans to change to a new Community Advisory Committee structure that will reorganize and streamline committee functions while broadening the range of community expertise represented. Implementation of the new structure will take place over the summer and fall of 2026; see Reimagining NSF Unidata’s Advisory Committees for details.
