Don't know on the first two.

The programs in the visad.aeri package, especially
Aeri.java, produce very nice displays. They conbine
profiler data with sounder data (from SSEC's AERI
instrument) and GOES images. Not general profiler
programs, but the displays are cool. These programs
use lots of memory, too.
