When you say "fixed time sequence" do you mean regularly spaced or not
sorted? Irregularly *spaced* data can be represented by a Gridded*Set as
long as they are topologically "regular," e.g. sorted. A Linear*Set can
be used for regularly spaced data.

That's one of those VisAD details that's easy to misunderstand.
