Due to the current gap in continued funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program Center has temporarily paused most operations. See NSF Unidata Pause in Most Operations for details.

Re: A few questions on VisAD capabilities

Hi Tolga,

There's a list of supported file formats on the VisAD web page.
It includes ASCII files but no CAD formats that I am aware of
(it does include some GIS formats, notably Shape files via
Unidata's Metapps software). VisAD does support structured
and unstructured grids (the unstructured grids currently have
to be subdivided into tetrahedra). VisAD supports a wide
variety of rendering and interaction techniques.

Cheers,
Bill
