You didn't mention which Solaris version ( uname -a ) you have ..? But in generell I would prefer to use jdk 1.2.2 together with the Solaris hotspot .. or jdk 1.3 beta with the client side hotspot which has a larger startup time .. but is then the really fastest jdk on the Solaris box .. But you need certains OS patches before you can use the HotSpot engines .. But this is meant more in generell .. I don't tried it so far with VisAD .. Good luck ! Frank
