Re: missing data, SelectRange and display topologies

There are more changes in the way VisAD handles missing
data and data excluded by SelectRange. If spatial
DisplayRealType values are missing, VisAD will construct
a partial topology from the valid data. Missing data
handling has been a concern to a number of users. Please
let me know if you encounter problems with this.

Also, VisAD now will use texture mapping on curved surfaces
and warped images in Java3D. This greatly improves
performance on machines that support hardware texture
mapping.

The examples/SatDisplay program is a good example of these
new capabilities.

The new curved texture mapping can introduce inaccuracies
in displays, but applications can control these by the
GraphicsModeControl.setCurvedSize method. Its integer
argument controls the size of "flat" areas in the texture
map - the default is 10. A negative value disables curved
texture mapping. All texture mapping can be disabled with
the GraphicsModeControl.setTextureEnable(false) method call.

Cheers,
Bill
