Re: [thredds] Issue with Thredds WMS : sometimes no layer in getCapabilities

Hi Tony:

It appears that you are using version 4.2.10, which is many years old, and no longer supported. Could you see if the same problem occurs with the latest 4.3.22? Also, does the problem happen with our latest beta code (4.5 which we will release in the next day or two) ?

Hi all,

The Global dissemination unit of the MyOcean project (www.myocean.eu
<http://www.myocean.eu>) encounters a problem since a long time with WMS
in Thredds.

http://atoll.mercator-ocean.fr/opendap-mercator-myocean/thredds/wms/global-analysis-forecast-phys-001-002?service=WMS&version=1.3.0&request=GetCapabilities

Please test this URL at different moment. Sometimes, some layers appear
in the getCapabilities, sometime there is no layer.. Attached the XML
when the service doesn’t work, and when the service work.

I first send an email to Jon Blower, but he said that :

“When a Capabilities doc is requested the WMS “asks” the THREDDS system
for a list of the variables within the dataset. It seems that THREDDS is
returning no results – this could be because the data are there, but the
metadata are not being read correctly.”

It is a huge (and very popular) dataset : each time step is a file
3.5Gb, global region, 1/12°, 50 levels depth, 9 variables. Temporal
coverage is more than one year.

The data files are ok.

Thanks in advance for the support.
