[thredds] TDS 4.3.15, java 1.7.11 and tomcat 1.7 on Redhat 4

Hi All:

I am trying to run TDS 4.3.15 on an old Redhat 4 installation, with Java 1.7
(11) and tomcat 7. I am getting the following error when I try to start Tomcat:

> Error: dl failure on line 864
> Error: failed /usr/local/jre1.7.0_11/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so, because
> /lib/tls/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by
> /usr/local/jre1.7.0_11/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so)
>

I know better than mess around with GLIBC because there are so many
dependencies on it. So questions are:

1. Does TDS 4.3.x absolutely require Java 1.7

2. Does any know if I downgrade to an older version of Java 1.7 whether that
might need a different glib?

3. Any other hints? LIke can get a local version of GLIBC for java to use?

Thanks,

-Roy
