At the moment the vector stuff only works for lat-lon grids - we are working on 
handling grid-relative vectors in the ncWMS codebase and that will percolate 
through to THREDDS in due course.

(That is, unless Kyle/Marcos have fixed this themselves!)

A followup question to this.  For most non lat/lon grids in grib format, the 
u/v vector components are grid relative.  Are they converted to true n/s 
vectors before being rendered?
