Chief, Marine and Coastal Weather Services Branch Subject: Expansion of the National Official Offshore Text Forecast Product to Include the US Arctic Waters Effective June 4, 2013 Effective Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at 4:00 PM Alaska Daylight Time (AKDT), 8:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), 0000 Wednesday June 5, 2013 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the NWS Weather Forecast Office (WFO) in Fairbanks, Alaska, will implement the official text forecast and synopsis for the offshore waters area of responsibility in U.S. Arctic Waters. The experimental phase of this forecast was implemented on June 2, 2009, as announced in Service Change Notice (SCN) 09-02, which can be found here: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/os/notification/scn09-02afg_arctic1.txt The evaluation of the additional zone forecasts resulted in favorable comments and the zones, synopsis and forecast will be included as part of the official product on June 4, 2013. Table 1 lists the product issued by WFO Fairbanks that will be affected by the change from experimental to operational status.Table 2 lists all the marine zones and Universal Geographic Codes
