SUBJECT: Modification of Fire and Public Weather Zone
Boundary between the Yukon Delta and Lower Yukon
Valley Zones in Western Alaska Effective
          October 13, 2011

Effective Thursday, October 13, 2011, at 1000 AM Alaska Daylight
Time (ADT), 1800 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the NWS
Fairbanks, AK, Weather Forecast Office (WFO AFG) will modify
the boundary between the western Alaska fire and public
forecast zones of the Yukon Delta (PKZ214) and Lower Yukon
Valley (PKZ215).

Table 1. Zone (Z) Form of the Universal Geographic Code (UGC)
and Fire/Public Forecast Zone Names/Numbers for WFO AFG Users

Fire/Public Zone Name Fire/Public Zone Number UGC (Z)
------------- -----------
Yukon Delta PKZ214
Lower Yukon Valley PKZ215

This change will modify the shapefiles for fire and public
weather forecast zones PKZ214 and PKZ215 in western Alaska.
Currently the fire and public weather forecast zone for the
Lower Yukon Valley (PKZ215) includes the village of Marshall,
Alaska. With this change the village of Marshall, Alaska will be
part of the Yukon Delta fire/public zone (PKZ214).

A graphical depiction and detailed explanation of this zone
modification is available online at:

   http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/fire/akzone.pdf

All WFO AFG fire and public weather products that use the zone
(Z) form of the UGC are affected.
