Update:

*On Wednesday, April 7, 2010 (DOY 2010/097), at 06:16:06 UTC, the NOAA-19 SBUV
began its weekly scheduled Wavelength Calibration. During the calibration
sequence the Diffuser is moved from its Stowed to its Monitor position and the
Calibration Lamp is operated in both the open and closed positions several
times. The end of the calibration moves the Calibration Lamp Door from its
closed position to the open position and then moves the Diffuser from the
Monitor to the Observe position. The anomaly observed on 2010/097 was the
failure of the Lamp Door to return to its Open position at 06:54:04 UTC.

Because the Lamp Door is closed, no usable Earth View data is being collected,
and no products are being made. This condition will persist until the Lamp Door
is opened.

Following consultation with the SBUV Calibration Team and the NASA POES Team, it was decided to attempt to manually command the lamp and diffuser doors to their open positions. At 21:06:31 UTC on Thursday, April 8, 2010 (DOY > 2010/098), the SBUV Lamp Door to Open command was sent. The telemetry was observed indicating the SBUV was attempting to move the door and then it timed out prior to any movement being reported. Telemetry still indicated the door was at the Closed position. A second command attempt was made with the same results.
Further action are pending an anomaly team review in the morning of Friday,
April 9, 2010.

*

Impacts on Users and Significance: *Major*

User Actions: *None*

Details/Specifics of Change: *It appears that there is a problem with the N19 SBUV/2 instrument which started yesterday. The instrument did not properly come out of a calibration sequence, and is not getting a good signal. No good data has
been received since that time.
