GOES-10 has reached its end-of-fuel life and requires decommissioning. NOAA plans to decommission GOES-10 on December 1, 2009. GOES-10 will be boosted to a disposal orbitand all GOES-10 user services will end on December 1, 2009, at 1230 UTC. Dedicated South America imaging will be interrupted at this time. NOAA
has considered GOES-10 replacement options and has developed plans for resuming dedicated South America coverage prior to June 2010. During the interruption period, GOES-12/EAST will continue to provide South America coverage every half hour during routine scan operations.
