SUBJECT: Changes to the NWS Production Suite 1. The transition to the next Central Computer System is expected to begin in August 2006. The moratorium on changes to the NCEP Production Suite is expected to begin 16 August and conclude when the new system becomes operational in January 2007. Anyone wishing to schedule a change prior to the moratorium should submit their requests as soon as possible. With two large implementations pending prior to the moratorium - Real-Time Mesoscale Analysis (RTMA) and the Hybrid Pressure-Sigma GFS - it may not be possible to satisfy all requests by 16 August. On 15 July the installation of the replacement system (Mist) for Blue will begin. More details on the transition schedule will be provided as they become available. 2. Upcoming changes to NCEP's production suite can be viewed at the following website:http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/changes/ This WEB site contains details on any product or timing changes that are associated with upcoming implementations.
