Topic: GOES-12 and GOES-10 Lunar Shadow Cancellations April 27, 2006
Message Issued: April 24, 2006, 2030 UTC
Satellites Impacted: GOES-12 and GOES-10
Products Impacted: GOES-12 and GOES-10 Imager Data
Date/Time of Initial Impact: April 27, 2006 0845 UTC
--------------------------
Details:

GOES-10 & GOES-12 will both have a lunar shadow on April 27, 2006. Due
to GOES-10 KOZ and the two lunar shadows there will be a period of no
imaging at the same time on both coasts, as well as periods of Full Disk
coverage. They will go as follows:

GOES-10 KOZ ? no imaging: 0830-0850Z and 0900-0944Z (08:30Z Northern
Hemisphere, 08:45Z Pacus, 09:00Z Full Disk and 09:30Z Northern Hemisphere)

GOES-12 Full Disk coverage for GOES-10 KOZ: 0815-0844Z (reduced from 09:44Z)

Changes due to the Lunar shadow:

GOES-12: 08:45Z Northern Hemisphere replaces Full Disk for lunar shadow.

*GOES-12 Lunar shadow ? no imaging: 09:00-10:56Z *

** THERE WILL BE NO IMAGING ON GOES-10 NOR GOES-12 FROM 0900-0944Z due
to GOES-10 KOZ overlapping GOES-12 Lunar shadow. **

GOES-10 Full Disk coverage for GOES-12 lunar shadow: 10:00-10:59Z

GOES-12 resumes normal imaging: 11:02Z CONUS and 11:09Z Southern Hemisphere

*GOES-10 Lunar shadow ? no imaging: 11:30-12:50Z - no imaging *

GOES-12 Full Disk coverage for GOES-10 lunar shadow: 11:15-13:14Z
