-------- Original Message --------
On Wednesday Sept 8, 2004 at 6:15am EDT (10:15 UTC) we will add a router to the
secure network at the Telecommunication Operations Center (TOC NWS Washington,
DC). We scheduled an outage of 30 minutes, but we hope the actual downtime
will be less.

Affected Traffic:

This outage will affect our data storage and switching systems.

Radar multicast customers will not be affected by this outage.
NCF data feeds will remain active.
However, radar data obtained by any other method (e.g., LDM) will not be
available

Traffic that passes through TOC (does not start/end at a TOC device) will not be
affected.

Although remote connections to our routers are not affected, data transfers
to/from TOC during this outage period will not be possible. This includes
sites,
such as, NCEP
    NESDIS
    DATMS-U
    GTS links
    SAS customers
    NWS regions

No new data will be available to TOC Public and Private HTTP/FTP servers.

Critical Weather:

If the scheduled date is designated a Critical Weather Day, the outage
will be postponed.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this outage may cause. Please
contact me if the timing of this outage presents a critical problem for
your operations.

Please forward this message to anyone who will be affected by this
action but was left off the mailing list. I would appreciate if you
would send me the email address of anyone that should be informed of
scheduled downtime in the future, but was not included in the current
list. Also, inform me if you wish to have your name removed from this
list.
