SUBJECT NWSTG WDE SYSTEM SWITCH

On Wednesday, March 31 at 0630 ET, NWSTG staff will switch operation of
the Weather Data Exchange (WDE) switching software from the active
system to the standby system. This switch will test fail over
capability between the two systems, and provide assurance of the
viability of the Web sphere MQ queues upon fail over. The switch should
be completed within 25 minutes.

In the event of a Critical Weather Day, this switch will be
rescheduled. A message will be sent prior to starting the switch and
then after completion to verify a return to normal operations.

Status information during the switch is available from NWSTG Tech
Control at 301-713-0902.

During the switch, the following circuits/processes will be suspended
and the data
received, sent, or processed by them will be queued for processing after
the switch is complete:

 - Socket interfaces UKMet (Exeter), Brasilia, and WIMS send and
receive will be
interrupted.

 - TG to NCEP (TNC) TG lines 291, and 292 will halt.

 - NCEP to TG (NTC) (not including model file writes to AFS)

Data will continue to be received via DBNet but will not be ingested
into the WDE
until after the switch.

 - Sybase to AFS (STA) Data update on the tgftp.nws.noaa.gov FTP server
will be
interrupted during the switch.

 - FTP Ingest will be suspended for the following accounts/lines though
login and file
transfer will not be affected. Any data received will be queued for
input after the switch.
