THE CURRENT NOAA WEATHER WIRE SERVICE /NWWS/ IS SCHEDULED TO END
ON MAY 31 2000.  THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE /NWS/ AWARDED A
CONTRACT TO PROVIDE AN OPEN SYSTEMS REPLACEMENT SERVICE TO GTE
INFORMATION SYSTEMS ON SEPTEMBER 30 1999.  THIS DIVISION OF
GTE...WHICH ALSO PROVIDES THE CURRENT NWWS...WAS SUBSEQUENTLY
ACQUIRED BY DYNCORP... HEADQUARTERED IN RESTON VIRGINIA.

THE NEW SERVICE WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE A TIMELY AND RELIABLE
C-BAND SATELLITE BROADCAST OF NWS FORECASTS AND WARNINGS TO
SYSTEM SUBSCRIBERS.  TO ENSURE UNINTERRUPTED NOAA WEATHER WIRE
SERVICE...COMMERCIAL SUBSCRIBERS NEED TO PROMPTLY MAKE
ARRANGEMENTS TO OBTAIN NEW EQUIPMENT AND SERVICE.
