Hello everyone,

Is anyone seeing this in their ldmd.log file on their NOAAport
servers, and what this means:

May 19 10:34:58 noaaport readnoaaport[4677] ERROR: [GB -31] g2varswmo6.tbl
May 19 10:34:58 noaaport readnoaaport[4677] ERROR: [GB 1]

May 19 10:34:58 noaaport readnoaaport[4677] ERROR: [GB 1]
May 19 10:35:07 noaaport readnoaaport[4677] ERROR: [GB -31] g2varswmo6.tbl

Ohh.. I know this one. We ran into this back in Dec. of 2009.

It has to do with the gempak decoding tables included with the Noaaport
distribution. Basically something is coming across that the readnoaaport
program doesn't recognize. We've found if you periodically update those
tables to the latest and greatest from Gempak it will clean it up.

Just copy the appropriate Gempak tbl files into your noaaport etc/
directory. There are 11 of them. You will need to restart noaaport then.

g2varsncep0.tbl
g2varsncep1.tbl
g2varswmo1.tbl
g2varswmo2.tbl
g2vcrdncep0.tbl
g2vcrdncep1.tbl
g2vcrdwmo1.tbl
g2vcrdwmo2.tbl
g2vcrdwmo3.tbl
grdnav.tbl
wmocenter.tbl

I never did figure out a way to identify 'what' is triggering it, that
would be nice to know. But at least the 'g2varswmo6.tbl' identifies
which one it's trying to use.

The GB[1] is an acceptable message...I 'think' it's a message from a
fallback to a default table.

This all comes from the gempak code bundled with noaaport

From gb2gtlclvartbl.c:
        -31 = Error reading table

... which basically tells me it couldn't find what it was looking for,
most likely because it's not defined.

I'm sure someone at Unidata might be able to provide a little more light
on the issue, but that's about what I've figured out so far.

That's right. OK, it looks like even in GEMPAK 6.2.0, the tables weren't update much...but hopefully enough to get the errors out. Thanks, Eric!
