Here's a presentation I gave at the Unifying Innovations in Forecasting Capabilities Workshop at NCAR this month: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/372744136_Better_Compression_for_UFS_with_Support_from_the_NetCDF_Community Abstract: Three new compression features are now available in netCDF. - Parallel I/O + compression. - Zstandard - new lossless compression. - Quantize - enables lossy compression. Using the new features will result in faster I/O, and smaller data files. Keep on netCDFing! Ed Hartnett
