Due to the current gap in continued funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program Center has temporarily paused most operations. See NSF Unidata Pause in Most Operations for details.
Hi All, I work for the Government of Canada and have been looking into the localization of metadata within a NetCDF file for the purposes of publishing it (bilingual metadata is a requirement of data publishing at the Government of Canada). I posted a longer dump of my thoughts here, https://github.com/cf-convention/discuss/issues/244, but the fine people at support-netcdf thought this would be a useful venue to discuss as well. Essentially, I'm looking for a clean way to specify metadata in different languages in a way that they can be extracted by an application and displayed to the user depending which language they work in. I had a few thoughts but I didn't want to rebuild the wheel if there already is a standard and I'd love to collaborate on such a standard if there is interest.
