You should run configure like this (assuming you run the bash-shell): FCFLAGS="-O2 -ftree-vectorize -march=native -fno-math-errno -fPIC" FC=gfortran ./configure --prefix=/mnt/software/.local/easybuild/software/data/netCDF-Fortran/4.4.4-foss-2018aI never have to define '--build' or '--host'. Please first try to run configure without them.
