Hi Roland, FYI, you can expand the header in existing netCDF files using the --hdr_pad option to ncks, ncatted, and ncrename (since version 3.0.2) http://nco.sf.net/nco.html#hdr This is, of course, not as useful as padding the header when the file is first created.
