Re: appending arbitrary netCDF files

Hello,

I know I can use ncks to append two netCDF files which share a common
dimension, but I'd like to append two netCDF files which have (syntactically)
nothing in common. No shared dimensions, coordinates, nada. I just want a
combined netCDF file.

Is there any way to do this?

Thanks,

Mark
ncml can be used to create a "union" of two or more files. you can use ucar.nc2.dataset.FileWriter to then copy to a physical netcdf file.

see

http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/netcdf/ncml/NetcdfAggregation.html

for more info on how to write the ncml.
