Since I made reference to the time discussion thread in a new question concerning time conventions in the netCDF FAQ (see <URL:http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/netcdf/faq.html#time>), the "limited time" will probably turn out to be a decade or two. But the request is reasonable, since the form of the current collection of messages (75 HTML files) makes it difficult to search.
