Due to the current gap in continued funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program Center has temporarily paused most operations. See NSF Unidata Pause in Most Operations for details.
To whom it may concern, I'm looking for a contact person within the UCAR/netCDF development community with whom to discuss a variety of netCDF issues (phone or email). This "netcdfgroup" email address was given to me by Al Hermann, a Physical Oceanographer/modeller at our Laboratory. We have an in-house visualization and analysis utility for large, gridded data sets called FERRET. We are in the process of enhancing it to support netCDF. The issues that I need feedback on are: o style extensions beyond those suggested under "Commonly Used Attributes" in the netCDF Users' Guide. (to stay consistent with common practice.) o availability of "generic" files from a variety of sites to exercise FERRET o availability of other public netCDF software o how to make netCDF software publically available to the netCDF user community An "Alpha" version of FERRET supporting netCDF is up and running on Sun's and DECstations. Based on the guidelines from the netCDF Users' Guide it supports "generic" netCDF files over a fairly broad range.
