Due to the current gap in continued funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program Center has temporarily paused most operations. See NSF Unidata Pause in Most Operations for details.

Hi allI am considering using netcdf-java to write large amount of ship track data but I am not sure how to do it "correctly" with netcdf-java so that other programs that support multi trajectories can use the data i am writing. Does anyone have a recipe or code samples how this should be done? I have also discovered that trajectories is missing in toolsUI4.1 but is present in 4.0. Any reason why this is removed?Best Regards Kjell Røang _______________________________________________ netcdf-java mailing list netcdf-java@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx For list information or to unsubscribe, visit: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/mailing_lists/
Hi Kjell:The "point obs" convention, now called the "discrete sampling" convention, which includes ship tracks, has taken 42 zillion years to complete. The latest iteration is at
https://cf-pcmdi.llnl.gov/trac/wiki/PointObservationConventionsbut its still not been approved as a final CF standard. Any feedback on it is appreciated, and ill do what i can to wrap it up.
ToolsUI 4.2 has consolidated these point obs files under the FeatureTypes/PointFeature tab. It should open trajectory files as the old 4.0 trajectory tab used to.
