[netcdf-java] problem with units code

I am using the Units classes and am having a problem with a unit that has as part of the units 

"m^2.5"

The code seems to interpret this as

"m^2"

due to the raiseTo method in UnitImpl expecting that the power is an int.

Any suggestions as to how to work around this problem would be welcome.
