Due to the current gap in continued funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program Center has temporarily paused most operations. See NSF Unidata Pause in Most Operations for details.
Users of NEXRAD Level 3 N0R, N0V and N0Z products: On Wednesday, May 5 at approximately 15 UTC, the NWS ceased production of the WSR-88D Low-Resolution Products N0R, N0V and N0Z for most, but not (yet) all stations. One of the impacts of this move (which has been promised for the past 2+ years) is the cessation of creation of the U.S. national N0R composite products (in both GINI and GRIB2 formats) in Unidata and their dissemination in the IDD FNEXRAD feed. Users of the N0R Level 3 product and the U.S. national N0R composite are advised to switch to using the DHR product and the U.S. national DHR composite that we are also creating and distributing in the IDD FNEXRAD feed. Users of the N0R composite in GRIB2 format do not have an alternative as the DHR composite is only being created in GINI format at this time. The NWS notice of the cessation of these products can be found in: https://www.weather.gov/media/notification/pdf2/scn21-36_88d_4bit_removal.pdf Many thanks to Ryan Hickman and Gilbert Sebenste of Allisonhouse.com for passing along the URL for this change notice!
