Daryl,

Thanks so much!

Great quote, that could apply to so many things!

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Re: [ldm-users] Comprehensive list of AWIPS/WMO headers for
products

Hi Gerry,

I have long wanted to create such a thing, but alas it may not be tenable.
Based on my interactions with the weather bureau, they don't have such a
listing either. I can offer some things to perhaps help with this.

1) A listing of 38,637 unique combinations of WMO TTAAII, source, and 6
character AWIPS ID of products received this year. Download it and `grep` to
your heart's content.

https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__mesonet.agron.iastate.edu_pickup_nws_pils-5F20200101-2D20200628.txt&d=DwICAg&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=awpMb9C6LdO4unq8szkwr1JChWDvqyXePNcmTFcEXXo&m=tofk8zw6CrDn2YOaR75B_bpf8YlLRdW2K0xyVQAyQ9c&s=SZX3akj67f0hp9u0xJ4WgoyByOXwqY5sT_8aG2E8DFs&e=

Now some of these aren't actually real (sad face) as they are psuedo IDs
generated by me, but most are good.

2) A query-able database of the past three days of products received over the
IDD, which includes some grib data and others, but is not fully comprehensive
either :/

https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__id3b.agron.iastate.edu_&d=DwICAg&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=awpMb9C6LdO4unq8szkwr1JChWDvqyXePNcmTFcEXXo&m=tofk8zw6CrDn2YOaR75B_bpf8YlLRdW2K0xyVQAyQ9c&s=3RD_MTCee_Z_SdsrObi0Q7TM4_UUOZFLF_-jZGwkivE&e=

3) A reference listing of the first three character ids used in the AWIPS ID
and what I call the plain text version of it.

https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__github.com_akrherz_pyIEM_blob_master_src_pyiem_data_reference_prodDefinitions.txt&d=DwICAg&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=awpMb9C6LdO4unq8szkwr1JChWDvqyXePNcmTFcEXXo&m=tofk8zw6CrDn2YOaR75B_bpf8YlLRdW2K0xyVQAyQ9c&s=0a_6eT2hZQZYNeEYV81mOxqEDYIPQRRRlBn5tDJ_dHg&e=

That file appears to contain a comment that the EQR was terminated :)

4) A simple interface to query text files based on their 6 character AWIPS ID.

https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__mesonet.agron.iastate.edu_wx_afos_&d=DwICAg&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=awpMb9C6LdO4unq8szkwr1JChWDvqyXePNcmTFcEXXo&m=tofk8zw6CrDn2YOaR75B_bpf8YlLRdW2K0xyVQAyQ9c&s=eVd9-4VT5SgnAxbAb61cWGyTyWDVHLKGMCOml9nwxxI&e=

So in your case, you could use #3 and find that the EQR is the earthquake
report and then put EQROUN into #4 and get back the following:

SEUS64 KOUN 070257 CCA
EQROUN
OKZ004>048-050>052-TXZ083>090-070700-

EARTHQUAKE REPORT...UPDATE TO MAGNITUDE BY USGS...CORRECTED RELAYED BY NATIONAL
WEATHER SERVICE NORMAN OK
856 PM CST SUN NOV 7 2016

The caveat here is that this archive goes back to 1983 and perhaps some of the
IDs / WMO headers used by those products is no longer valid.

And as an aside, I have been hounding the weather bureau for many moons
attempting to resolve inconsistencies with their dissemination and usage of
various WMO IDs and AWIPS IDs and it is not much fun.

https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__docs.google.com_spreadsheets_d_15a-5Fb5-5Foz2kEiLMacjMSNWiJeYizS8VuPBnjOhhngxKc_edit-23gid-3D0&d=DwICAg&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=awpMb9C6LdO4unq8szkwr1JChWDvqyXePNcmTFcEXXo&m=tofk8zw6CrDn2YOaR75B_bpf8YlLRdW2K0xyVQAyQ9c&s=kaf0grlQ_447t1rZHtFeI2OGKWeGBwpGuxbFEx8k9X4&e=

The rabbit hole is deep, painful, and without a bottom. It is over six feet
deep though, so it will qualify for my resting place when the time comes.

Subject: [ldm-users] Comprehensive list of AWIPS/WMO headers for products

I've been looking for a comprehensive list of what's available via LDM. This
morning, for example, I'm looking for earthquake alerts/info.

I used to have a good list but I can't find it now and my online searches
haven't been real successful.

Thanks
gerry
