Due to the current gap in continued funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program Center has temporarily paused most operations. See NSF Unidata Pause in Most Operations for details.
LDM-Users, This evening, one of the lists more prolific LDM users, Jeff Lake, passed away this evening due to complications from MS. Over the years, I got to know Jeff through this list as he operated his private business. He would ask me about LDM actions and how to do things, but he quickly got good enough to start learning about its limitations, and the occasional bug. In fact, a few years ago, Steve Emmerson gave Jeff and I a beta copy of the LDM. We then had an internal contest to see which one of us could find the most bugs. In the past, I usually won those "contests", but on this one, even though I found a handful of bugs, Jeff blew me out the water. He, like me, wanted to be cutting edge, and make the LDM the best it could be. As a result, his work benefitted all of us, making the LDM more stable as the bugs were found, and then crushed by Steve Emmerson. He was a pleasure to work with, and I will miss him. My condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends, who are in mourning tonight.
