Hi all,
Please see this e-mail chain below. Basically, there are grids now missing
from the RAP130 NGRID NOAAport feed (post Tuesday's switch). They are the same
grids missing that were changed in the TIN message. Hopefully there is someone
on this list that can solve the problem.
Best,
vg

Sorry I didn't email yesterday. I called the NCF and asked their tech team to
check the logs and ensure these new WMO headers were being up linked to
noaaport. I got confirmation that they see the 86 headers and were sent to
noaaport. I'm a little stuck now. At this point I would probably suggest going
to unidata ldm forum and ask if anyone else is seeing them. Get some smart ldm
people involved. Do you have a POC for them?

Carissa-
The 4 files missing in the 13 km RAP AWIPS files are the 4 that we
mentioned in the RAP13 AWIPS TIN for which the headers were changing.
We're correctly processing all of them, so does this mean that some
group downstream was not prepared for this change??

Hi Geoff,
Found them, I was wrong about CIN. All four are the changes mentioned in the
TIN message. I ran a quick DIF checker and found removal of:
CIN255-0 mb above ground
CAPE255-0 mb above ground
HLCY1000-0 m above ground
HLCY3000-0 m above ground
Probably the ones you were expecting. Let us know if/when they are added back
to the NOAAport stream.

Knowing the exact dropouts would probably be a good thing. Thanks for
offering.

Thanks for your speedy response Geoff!
I can confirm that the changed entries in your document:
"The headers for helicity are changed from ‘LZD*98 KWBG’ to ‘LZD*86 KWBG’ The
headers for 0255 mb cape is changed from ‘LWD*98 KWBG’ to ‘LZD*86 KWBG’"
Are not coming in after using LDM 'notifyme.' Strangely, 0-255mb CIN is
working just fine.
I can compare pre and post upgrade to get you the exact dropouts if needed.

hi Victor-
The issues must be downstream of us, as the RAP 130 grids that we're
sending to NOAAPORT have 292 records now, and the cycles before the upgrade had
292 as well.
Per that document, we changed the headers for 4 parameters, so it
sounds like those 4 are falling on the floor somewhere down the line. I
can't yet account for the other two.

Hi Geoff,
We were matching the grids with anything from (L.D...), as you say in your
document here:
http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/changes/docs/AWIPS_RAPv3_130.pdf
We have also used:
NGRID grib2/ncep/RUC2/#130/(..)(..)(....)(....)F(...)
FILE /home/data/models/rap/\2\3\4F\5.rap
To match *anything* from the RAP NGRID feed.
Running wgrib2 on the files since 12Z today shows that there were 292 grids
before the upgrade and 286 after (we eliminate the aviation flight level
products).
I haven't sorted through exactly which have been dropped, but at least two of
them are 0-1 and 0-3 SRH.

hi Victor-
In the document
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-k5tKCQjS7a55Y1IUHuQSpLXXbIcvb1LZtEjdKmePsY/edit
please note section 5. Helicity had been identified as a surface field
which really isn't right, so it was changed with this upgrade. The new
headers should be easy to find.

p.s. I shared the document with you.

Hi Geoff/Curtis/Carissa,
Beginning with today's 1200 UTC update for the RAP 130 grid, I no longer see
HLCY 0-1000 m and HLCY 0-3000m being transmitted over the SBN NOAAport feed. I
saw no changes with the HRRR grib2 files, but it was my impression from the
para feeds that the 0-1 and 0-3 SRH fields would still be a part of the RAP
post-processed fields from NCEP.
As you know, they are important variables for calculation and use in convective
forecasting, and I hope they return soon!
