[ldm-users] Solar Storms ?!

Pls,

I cant affirm anything ... but...

in the last 2 days at least 3 major organizations that are providers of meteorological data and products are had problems with they data delivering/processing systems. Everyone is aware about NCEP issues, and today I got alert messages regarding delaying of unavailability of products from ECMWF and KNMI.

My Guess/doubt is if the current solar storm events are causing these issues. For curiosity, 3 alerts that the Space Weather Prediction Center published:
http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/alerts/index.html

Cheers,
Waldenio.

Space Weather Message Code: SUM10R
Serial Number: 588
Issue Time: 2013 Aug 17 1947 UTC

SUMMARY: 10cm Radio Burst
Begin Time: 2013 Aug 17 1908 UTC
Maximum Time: 2013 Aug 17 1915 UTC
End Time: 2013 Aug 17 1933 UTC
Duration: 25 minutes
Peak Flux: 150 sfu
Latest Penticton Noon Flux: 120 sfu
Description: A 10cm radio burst indicates that the electromagnetic burst associated with a solar flare at the 10cm wavelength was double or greater than the initial 10cm radio background. This can be indicative of significant radio noise in association with a solar flare. This noise is generally short-lived but can cause interference for sensitive receivers including radar, GPS, and satellite communications.

ALERT: Type IV Radio Emission
Begin Time: 2013 Aug 17 1909 UTC
Description: Type IV emissions occur in association with major eruptions on the sun and are typically associated with strong coronal mass ejections and solar radiation storms.
