Yes, this is odd.
On our local McIDAS system (yakov), the 23:51Z report is there, but
on motherlode it is not. It is also in our local GEMPAK files.
The bulletin containing the KALB report has a bad control char in the
first ob (KEHA):
598 ^M^M
SAUS80 KWBC 180000^M^M
METAR^M^M
KEHA 172348Z RMK e^TF AMOS 77/21/1008/M PK WND 10 000=^M^M
KSAD 172350Z AUTO 27005KT 10SM CLR 27/M10 A3004 RMK AO2 SLP142^M^M
T02721100 10278 20200 56020 TSNO=^M^M
KSAN 172351Z 29006KT 10SM FEW250 21/11 A3003 RMK AO2 SLP169^M^M
T02110111 10211 20194 56018=^M^M
KELP 172351Z 26006KT 10SM CLR 27/M12 A3008 RMK AO2 SLP139^M^M
T02671122 10278 20228 56016=^M^M
so perhaps that screwed up the decoders. The odd thing is that
certain systems handled this better than others.

This very odd. The data showed up in my GEMPAK file. The
decoder uses the pattern:
WMO ^S[AP]
However, it is not in my data file which uses the pattern:
DDS|IDS|EXP ^S[AP].* .... ([0-3][0-9])([0-2][0-9])
I wonder if there wasn't a corrupt header.

Hi Kevin,
re:
I noticed that the KALB 00Z METAR from 3/18 did not appear in our
data feed. I checked a site with a NOAAport satellite, and it also
did not have the product. The ob did show up on the
tgftp.nws.noaa.gov METAR data collective, however.
I just checked to see what KALB METAR data has been received and
decoded on two toplevel IDD relay nodes that we maintain, and both are
missing the 23:51 UTC observation for yesterday, Tuesday, March 17.
This is the observation that would have been received at 00 UTC.
Here is a McIDAS SFCLIST listing for the data processed on the toplevel
NOAAPort ingest and IDD relay machine we maintain at the NSF/ATM
offices in Arlington, Virginia, idd.cise-nsf.gov:

This listing, which was generated at 14:15 UTC, represents the last 24
hours of decoded METAR observations for KALB. As you can see, the
23:51 UTC KALB obs is missing.
Did anyone else receive this METAR? If not, does anyone have any
idea as to what might have happened?
No, sorry.
Cheers,
Tom
