Due to the current gap in continued funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program Center has temporarily paused most operations. See NSF Unidata Pause in Most Operations for details.
Hello,An error has recently been discovered with reporting of wind direction from Relay Station AWS site in East Antarctica. Both real-time data and archive data have been affected (since 1 August 2001 - data before this date is correct). Real-time data on the AMRC Web, FTP and ADDE servers was changed to have the correction after 14:30 UTC 24 September 2003 (data before this will still be incorrect). The archive of AWS data on the AMRC/AWS FTP sites will be correct as soon as the data can be processed with the wind direction correction applied to it.
For users interested in the correction method if you have older incorrect data, the formula is:
Correct Wind direction = 360 - dir Where dir is the older incorrect wind direction.Announcements will be made when the Relay Station AWS arhive data is corrected and posted to the FTP sites.
