Re: NCEP ftp server

I have been unable to get data from ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov since
Wednesday (GFS/MRF grids), but did find the grids I needed on
tgftp.nws.noaa.gov. Had some trouble with this site yesterday, too, but
this morning's run downloaded OK. I wrote to NCEP email help Thursday and
got this response:

Hello,

The NOAA NOC is saturated with users accessing the web services
for updates on hurricane Isabel, so many people are having
problems. Our ftp server is available, but the traffic high
getting through the NOAA NOC to get to us.

Yes, the MRF files are on the tgftp server, here:
The offical ftp server for NCEP data is the NWS file server,
SL.us008001/ST.opnl/MT.mrf_CY.00/RD.20030918/PT.grid_DF.gr1/*.mxdgrd

But you may not have much better luck getting to the tgftp server
until Isabel has dissipated.
