Due to the current gap in continued funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program Center has temporarily paused most operations. See NSF Unidata Pause in Most Operations for details.
Kevin,Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to change the units of the Range Rings. You may be interested in the Range and Bearing Control (right below the Range Rings in the menu) (http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/IDV/docs/userguide/controls/misc/RangeAndBearingControl.html) which does allow different units.

One of the students in my class inquired whether it was possible to change the units of the Range Rings from km to miles. It does not appear to me that one can do so, but if I'm wrong, please enlighten me. I did try changing my distance unit from km to miles in my general View preferences, but that did not help. Thanks!
