Re: [idvdevelopers] subsetting METAR data display area

Hi Felix-

I'm guessing that you are using the netCDF METAR data. Unfortunately,
the underlying netCDF-Java library does not support subsetting in
a lat/lon box (nor by time). So, currently, we end up downloading
all the data and then subsetting on the local client. We will be
working with the netCDF group over the next few months on point
data access and the new API is supposed to support the lat/lon
subsetting on the server.

Hi all,

IU LEAD group is looking to pre-configure IDV to subset a METAR data product so that when loaded, only a portion of the product's spatial area appears in IDV. We have some experience now with altering IDV's XML bundle configuration and are wondering if there's something we can tweak within that file so that a subset of the spatial area of the METAR file is shown.

I'm cc'ing the technical contact on this project -- Nilesh -- here. He will be subscribing to the list and should also be able to give more details if my premise here isn't sufficient (I suspect it's a bit vague)

   Thanks,
