IDV for course using Wallace and Hobbes

This from a newbie to idv and this list.
I begin teaching a course in atmospheric physics using the text by Wallace and Hobbes. I am hoping to use the IDV viewer to help the students make current versions of the make pictures in Wallace and Hobbes such at the pole to pole cross section of temperature at all altitudes or the corresponding east-west winds.
I'm writing in hopes of getting in touch with someone who has experience in such an effort.
