I could use some support with the case development processes for GARP and
GEMPAK. I am currently working with an older version of this application (I
believe version ~5.7#). I have been trying to modify some of the available
drop-down options for those cases in GARP, but I have been having trouble
identifying where the changes have to happen. For example, modifying the
Gemenviron file for cases, table files, or some other configuration files.

One issue that I am having is being able to view ship and buoy data as a
selectable dataset.

I have placed the data into the same directory format as some other older cases
that have ship and buoy data, but this newer data is not viewable for the new
case I created. For example, placing the ship and buoy observations in the
same subdirectory structure as the surface observations (gempak/surface).

One of the error calls is below:

  1. GEMPAK: [DM -16] Invalid data packing terms. GEMPAK: [SF -2] File
~/2024020421_shb.gem could not be opened.

Is this an issue with how the ship observation files are now being built and is
there a way for me to get the data in a format that could be read by the
currently configured processes?

Please let me know if you need any additional information or clarifications.
Thank you very much for your time and help.

Very Respectfully,

Derek Podowitz
