I can't see to find anything on GMNM. Looking at the bulletin collective,
it appears
to be a typo. FMNM is a valid METAR site so I think this answers your
question.

One of the first things I do when I see a new METAR site is do a Google
Search
for "<site code> airport". When a new airport is opened or planned, it
often
shows up with its own Wikipedia entry.

For instance earlier this year, TVSA METARs showed up, so I first did a
Google Search for "TVSA airport" and got this right away.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argyle_International_Airport

You get the IATA code and the lat/lon as well. Sometimes the elevation of
the site is
given, but if not, just use the Elevation Finder site and plug in the exact
lat/lon
to get what you need.

Often, this leads to you other information, like what airport did it
replace?
In this case, TVSA replaced TVSV.

This site is good for getting all relevant information. It gets updated
regularly
I have noticed. This site can be used for new SYNOP sites as well.

I will also look here:
http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gclookup

This NCEP site can be useful as well. It lists more than just METAR sites,
and also will list
non-airport locations that report METARs.
http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/codes/nwprod/decoders/decod_shared/dictionaries/metar.tbl

This site keeps all codes from the past, so if a site ID changes, the
former code usually remains in the
list Also, codes long since ceased METAR reporting are also found in this
list. It is good for historical
reference.

For any airport/airstrip in the U.S., this site is best.

Also, a good way to determine the last METAR reported from a site received
at NCEP, use this link:
http://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/observations/metar/stations/XXXX.TXT

Where "XXXX" is the ICAO code. If a site hasn't reported in a long time,
the site either
has been shut down or the METAR removed from distribution.
