Hi Tim,

Re KMLB on the 14th of August:

Looks like some gaps do exist..and some volume discrepancies around 0700Z

I did not run the attached program, but hope this sheds some light.

If needed I can run (I think) the attached script..

Tim, I know you may not be the person to handle this but figured you
might know who would. I have obtained all the Archive Level II tar files
for H Charley from NCDC (as has Paul Harasti and Wen-Chau lee among
others). Now we all have to revise our software to handle VCP 121 but
that
should not be too big a deal, and should benefit us in the long run.
Hpwever, we have a problem with Melbourne data after OOZ on the
14th The data were recorded in VCP 12 and the files are very small. At
first I thought they might be bzip2 compressed but that does not seem to
be the case. I have a simple C program, chk_nxrd_msg_types.c (I have
attched a copy) that dumps out the az el from each radial data record
(msg type 1) and also dumps out the other msg types that it finds. I
have
attached the output from that program for two level II volumes from MLB,
for 0001 and 0307 UTC on 14 August. As you can see from the ascii files
it
looks like a lot of the intermediate sweeps did not make it into the
NCDC
archive. We are hoping that those data still reside at MLB somewhere. We
really would like these dara because they could help in describing the
intensity change in Charley - especially in the TBW-MLB dual Doppler
lobe. Thanks for any help you can give us! Peter Dodge
