Due to the current gap in continued funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program Center has temporarily paused most operations. See NSF Unidata Pause in Most Operations for details.
Kevin, I don't think this issue is particular to the global 0.5 degree grids. I compared the 500mb plot that you showed with the GRID 212 (40km) CONUS data from NOAAPORT as well, and that data looks to have the same noisy features. Both are GRIB2, and somewhat comparable grid spacing, so the display appears consistently unattractive in that regard. Steve Chiswell Unidata User Support On Fri, 2007-09-28 at 19:33 +0000, Kevin R. As for the 2nd paragraph below, that might still be the case, since the 0.5 degree fields are not sent (as far as I know) over NOAAPORT and/or the SBN--they are just posted on the ftp servers (and by extension, the CONDUIT feed).FWIW, the 1 degree fields (which I don't think are sent over NOAAPORT, at least not on the NWSTG1 channel) do not look different than pre-9/25, at least at first glance.______________________________________________________________________ Kevin Tyle, Systems Administrator ********************** Dept. of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences ktyle@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx University at Albany, ES-235 518-442-4578 (voice) 1400 Washington Avenue 518-442-5825 (fax) Albany, NY 12222 ********************** ______________________________________________________________________
