Due to the current gap in continued funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program Center has temporarily paused most operations. See NSF Unidata Pause in Most Operations for details.
Announcing: *The 2018 Unidata Community Equipment Awards Program* Sponsored by the National Science Foundation Are you interested in participating in the Unidata program? Do you need upgraded equipment to continue participating? Do you have an innovative contribution to make to the Unidata community? The Unidata Community Equipment Awards can help! We are soliciting proposals for computer equipment purchases from *academic institutions* engaged in teaching and research in the geosciences. - Awards up to $20K will be made - Proposals must be received at the Unidata Program Center by *March 16, 2018* to be considered - Notifications of award status are expected to be made by May 2018 This year, special consideration will be given to proposals that include one or more of the following: - Projects that advance data-proximate analysis of large remote datasets (e.g. GOES-R satellite data) - Projects that facilitate the engagement of machine learning and utilize data analytics - Installation of equipment that provides student access to and use of GOES-16 data - Installation of equipment for the operational use of ensemble models and the development of those models’ predictions to share with the broader geoscience community Proposals from minority-serving institutions also receive special consideration. As always, these special emphases do not preclude other proposals from the Unidata community for procuring new computers or upgrading existing classroom and laboratory equipment to integrate Unidata tools and data services in geoscience education and research. *More information is available at:2018 Unidata Community Equipment Awards <http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/community/equipaward/RFP2018.html>* Or contact us at: support-egrants@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx We will also be at AMS next month, so be sure to visit the UCAR Community Programs (UCP) and Unidata booths with questions about this program or any of our tools and data services!
