Announcing: *The 2016 Unidata Community Equipment Awards Program* Sponsored by the National Science Foundation Are you interested in participating in the Unidata program? Do you need upgraded equipment to continue participating? Do you have an innovative contribution to make to the Unidata community? The Unidata Community Equipment Awards can help! We are soliciting proposals for computer equipment purchases from *academic institutions* engaged in teaching and research in the geosciences. - Awards up to $20K will be made - Proposals must be received at the Unidata Program Center by *March 25, 2016* to be considered - Notifications of award status are expected to be made by May 2016 This year, special consideration will be given to proposals that include one or more of the following: - Installation of an AWIPS II standalone EDEX server to test data ingest locally, as well as the CAVE client to display data from local and remote servers - Implementation of or pilot projects with remotely-accessible storage systems for geoscience data (“cloud-based storage”) - Implementation of or pilot projects with remote server-based data analysis or visualization systems (“cloud-based analysis”) - Installation of a Jupyter notebook server in the cloud to experiment with Python for data-proximate analysis and visualization As always, these special emphases do not preclude other proposals from the Unidata community for procuring new computers or upgrading existing classroom and laboratory equipment to integrate Unidata tools and data services in geoscience education and research. *More information is available at:* http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/community/equipaward/#RFP2016 Or contact us at: support-egrants@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx We will also be at AGU and at AMS, so be sure to visit the UCAR Community Programs (UCP) and Unidata booths with questions about this program or any of our tools and data services!
