Hi Jim...

I investigated a bit, and there is a precedent for "regions" in the
standard names...but when "they" put it together, it was based on the
GCMD keyword list and they purposefully excluded country names (with
the caveat that they could be added later, if needed).

It looks like "all" that needs to get done to request this is to post
a message to the "cf-metadata" mailing list...but perhaps someone else
here knows more.
