[awips2-users] AWIPS II updates for 14.4.1-10

Hi all,

I pushed the latest build to the awips2repo. There are some important
changes that are worth mentioning. As of 14.4.1-10:

* the LDM now installs to /awips2/ldm/ and no longer requires an ldm
account or /usr/local/ldm/. For sites which still want to run the LDM from
/usr/local/ldm/ you can continue to do so until you update the yum server
group (and the awips2-ldm package specifically). I don't anticipate that
anyone will find this change objectionable, as it contains the LDM to an
AWIPS II-specific directory and makes install/uninstall easier, and runs as
user awips like all other services.

* "ldmadmin" will now start and stop automatically with the "edex start"
and "edex stop" commands. You will see a printout of the ldmadmin process
along with EDEX processes (when typing "edex" or "edex status"):

[root@edex ~]# edex

[edex status]
 postgres    :: running :: pid 2497
 pypies      :: running :: pid 2534
 qpid        :: running :: pid 2563
 EDEXingest  :: running :: pid 2717 2891 7188
 EDEXgrib    :: running :: pid 2718 3014 7198
 EDEXrequest :: running :: pid 2724 2949 7206
 ldmadmin    :: running :: pid 3838

     edex (status|start|stop|setup|log|purge)

* logs can be easily tailed with the commands

   - "edex log" to show the primary ingest log
   - "edex log grib"
   - "edex log radar"
   - "edex log satellite"

* a purge check and purge reset were added:

   - "edex purge" will print out plugin names that have been purge-locked
   in the database (which happens after your disk fills up entirely).
   - "edex purge reset" will release the purge lock.

This last one is only important if you notice that /awips2/edex/data/hdf5/
has grown unusually large and old data files are not being removed.

* Lastly the 14.4.1-10 build of CAVE includes better data product
organization in the menus. The default satellite imagery source is now the
UNIWISC McIDAS feed 1km VIS and 4km IR and WV imagery, higher resolution
than the GINI imagery coming across NOAAport, some of which is not being
rendered correctly in CAVE right now.

* once again, install and updates can be managed by the installEDEX.sh and
installCAVE.sh scripts found at http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/awips2/
and https://github.com/Unidata/awips2
