HI Neil,

I just ran into this problem on a fresh CAVE install, the “Error setting up
notification server" message when starting CAVE.  From the dev console I
saw that the Notification Server was trying to connect to the local machine
name (which is not "localhost") and the error went away after adding the
local machine name to /etc/hosts, allowing CAVE to resolve the name to
localhost/127.0.0.1.
