Re: [awips2-users] Fwd: awips2

I had the same issue on CentOS 5.9. Downgrading my libgnomevfs-2.so to
the older version in the repos fixed some of the issue (with browsing
gnome vfs directory structures), but there was still an issue with
libxslt/firefox, where firefox would close upon opening and visiting a
website.

Scientific Linux v. 5.9 (based on RHEL, just like CentOS) does not
have these issues, and I have noticed that after reinstalling to
Scientific Linux and making a small modification in a script file for
setting up the Java environment (I had to remove a debug string), that
I no longer have any issues (even with Edex, which initially would not
start edexRequest).

I am not telling you this as a suggestion that you reinstall, rather
to provide information on how events transpired for me.

I believe the modification I had to make was in
/awips2/edex/bin/wrapper.conf, where I removed a debug log string
(which was evident from the error messages I was receiving when
starting edex, a no class def found error applicable only to when that
debug setting was set in the conf file). After I made that
modification, EdexRequest started successfully.

Thanks,

Michael Sabino
